How to Hide and Unhide Folders and Files Using Windows 10

To hide a files and folders is useful in keeping our data inside or stored on a hard disk drive (HDD), USB flash drive, or in any micromemory drive. To keep a file like confidential and keep it on the eye of a child or to others that visually expose to others who are using your computer. Or in a presentation on using your laptop that could directly expose your drive using the projector. This will help so much to protect your data privacy.


1. HOW TO APPLY HIDDEN ATTRIBUTES

-If you're using an external drive where your data is stored and you need to hide a data inside of it. You can use different versions of Windows operating system.

  1. Open the drive using the computer icons on your desktop.
  2. Once it's open, select the folder or drive you want to hide.
  3. Then right click on it.
  4. Then click properties.
  5. On the pop up windows on the Attributes, check box hidden.
  6. Click apply button.
  7. On the next pop -up window you have two options, you can select either "Apply changes to this folder only" and "Apply changes to this folder, sub folders and files".  
NOTE: 

If you select "Apply changes to this folder only" this will hide only on a single file or folders you selected. But if you select both the entire data inside your drive, use the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files".

After the attributes is applied, you will see that the files or folders are transparent. This indicates you're ready to hide the files and folders.

2. HOW TO HIDE THE FILES AND FOLDERS YOU SELECTED
  1. In windows explorer where you open your drive of your data, click the "File" menu located top left side of your screen.
  2. Click Options.
  3. On the folder options window, click view tab menu.
  4. Then select "Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives.
  5. Then click apply button then ok.
  6. Now check your files and folders, it's now hidden in your drive.
3. HOW TO UNHIDE FILES AND FOLDERS
  1. Open your drive where the data is stored.
  2. In windows explorer where you open your drive of your data, click the "FILE" menu located top left side of your screen.
  3. Click Options".
  4. On the folder options window, click view tab menu.
  5. Then select "Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
  6. Then click apply button then ok.
  7. Then now check your files and folders it will visible in your drive.

How To Remove Recycler Virus In USB Drive Using CMD

Recycler Virus
is a virus that commonly attacks the USB drive you use, even in a CF card, MicroSD, or another micro memory card you're using. This virus will penetrate once you inserted a USB drive into a computer that was affected by this kind of virus.

Once you have inserted you're USB drive you can't open or access your data and files because it was hidden by taking advantage of the autorun features of the windows. This autorun feature causes the programs to start loading once you are plugging your USB drive into the port.


HOW TO REMOVE OR DELETE THIS KIND OF VIRUS?


All you need is a virus scanner installed on your computer and a little know-how in using the command mode or cmd in windows 7 or windows 10.

Run Anti Virus Application

  1. Insert your USB flash drive into the USB port.
  2. Don't open the USB drive, instead run the anti-virus application. Be sure to select the drive letter of your USB.
  3.  Click to start the anti-virus scanning.
  4. Wait until the virus scanning finish.
  5. After the virus scanning, your files or data inside your USB can't be open because it was hidden. All you need is to open the command mode or cmd of the windows application. Follow the steps below.

USING THE WINDOWS 7 or WINDOWS 10

Command ATTRIB Using CMD


Using Windows 7, click the start button then click the search bar above on it. And using Windows 10 click the search button inside the taskbar.

  1. Type CMD inside the bar.
  2. The windows search will display the CMD icon using windows 7 and windows 10 will display a command prompt.
  3. Right-click on it and click the "run as administrator".
  4. Then once the black screen will display, there is a command-line like this: c:\windows\system32> or c:\windows>
  5. Inside that command line, change drives to your USB drive letter. Follow these steps, assuming this will display on the black screen, c:\windows> type inside here e: then enter. This is how the complete command inside the command line of windows. c:\windows>e: then enter key. The command will force to execute to change into the USB drive. 
  6. Then in the command line of your USB drive letter, for example, drive e: type the command like this: attrib -s -h -r /s /d, then hit the enter key.
  7. Wait until the command finishes the execution.
  8. Once it finishes opening your USB drive in My Computer or My PC icon.
  9. Then delete the other folder like the duplicate and recycler folder. Look at the image below here.
  10. Then check if your files inside your drive can be easily open and there is no virus.Delete Recycler Folder and the duplicate folder
