Pending to create first with this application setting has probably ruined the formation of your document's paragraph inside the document templates if your page setup set after you type in your entire documents.

Follow the steps and look at the images of how to set up this setting for your documents before you start typing.

What is ATTRIB and How to use it in Command Prompt

Another external command, the use of the Microsoft Disk Operating System (MS-DOS) or commonly called a command prompt in your computer is called ATTRIB. This external command works as an important command you can use on your computer. This works as attributes to set the files to read-only, hidden, achieved, and a system.

The general form of ATTRIB command is ATTRIB attribute file-name. See the image below.

MS-DOS Command
In the picture above, the filename is the name of the file (including drive and path specifiers) that will have its attributes changed or examined.

Windows Files And Folders
The image above is an example of how I set the example folder as my file to hide. Using the attribute and attributes + and - H, I can enable and disable the hidden file folder called example, in drive c:, see the image below:

In the image above, the location of the file folder called EXAMPLE is located in drive c:, as command DIR in the command line of MS-DOS. Then in the next command line, I execute ATTRIB +H EXAMPLE to enable to hide the file. You will examine in my next command of DIR. Then I use ATTRIB -H EXAMPLE to disable to hide the file.

In the image above, I'm using all the attributes ATTRIB +H +R +A +S FILENAME. Where H is hidden, R is read-only, A is achieved, and S is the system. Since I'm using + (plus) it is understood to hide the files using all the attributes. Then in my next command is I'm using the - (minus) to unhide the file.

This image showed the use of the ATTRIB using the wildcard character the * (asterisk). This is very useful to hide or unhide the files with the same extension file, such as the. TXT or. DOCX or any other extension files. Using the attributes hidden, archived, read-only, and system.

Using the Attrib command of MS-DOS is very helpful in case your file is hidden like the cause of a virus and after virus scanning the file. Because there is a tendency your file will be hidden. Or you need to hide any files which are confidential.

Delete Files Using MS-DOS Command Prompt

Using Microsoft Disk Operating system or MS-DOS, the internal command erases files from a disk. You can erase a single file or even a group of files in a directory or folder of a storage, like the USB flash drive.

The file- name is the name of the files to be erased. You can use wild card characters in your command, like star dot star or asterisk dot, asterisk (*. *) to erase a group of files. Erase is another name for delete.

If you use the /p parameter of your command, the command line will ask you first or confirm before to go on deleting a file. And if you include the INV*. * in your command it will erase all files that begin with "INV" in your disk.

Erase Multiple Files In A Drive Using Command Prompt

  1. Open your computer, once you in desktop, click start menu then click in search bar and type cmd, then enter key. Or find the program called "command prompt".
  2. Once you're in command line, open the drive, example USB flash drive, like c:\USers\Home>e: then enter key
  3. If your command line like this, e:\> find the folder with multiple files you want to erase using this command, ex. e:\>cd test, then enter key. Because in my image above the files is the main directory of test. The entire is like this: e:\test\yahoo>DEL *.* , using this command all the files inside the yahoo folder will be deleted. See the image above.

Erase Single Files In A Drive Using Command Prompt

  1. In your command line, change drive to a drive where you want to erase a files, example drive e:
  2. In my example, the file is inside of the directory of test, so I open the directory of test using the cd command.
  3. Once your command line like this: e:\TEST> type the command DIR then enter to display the files inside of the directory.
  4. Once it will display, type the command like this: DEL test.bmp /p, in my example, my filename is test.bmp, then I'm using /p parameter in my command to confirm first before to erase the files.

INV file is a file extension came from the files commonly use in a games. This is a data files not a document files in your office applications.

  1. In your command line type this command: ex. c:\USer\Home>DEL E:INV*.*

Open first the drive where the directory of files is stored. Use the command we mention before in my last post. See the first image above of this post.

  1. To remove a directory follow this commands: c:\Users\Home>e: then enter key
  2. When your command line like this: e:\> type the command cd then folder name example cd TEST, this is use if a directory is inside of a directory like c:\Users\Home\Test\practice\, to erase this directory you need this command: c:\Users\Home\Test\practice>cd.. then enter key. I use cd.. to move the command line in a directory of test. So that I can remove the directory called practice. The command is like this: c:\Users\Home\test>rd practice the enter key
  3. Then to confirm directory deletion, type DIR command to display.

Take note this command is a dangerous for your computer. This possible to erase important files in your computer. So you must be careful and check before to erase a file.

Now lets take into the advance level of using the MS-DOS. The command used for the computer networks and internet connections. This includes how to view the network information, networks, devices and connectivity. And how to check the availability of the network host controller or a certain website. This is useful for the students who taking up technical courses and other courses of the computer.

If your computer is connected to another computer that uses communication devices such as routers and network switch, either in your office works or in your home. If you need to get or display the network information on your computer, you need to use the command ipconfig or ipconfig /all and press enter key.

In order to verify the network connections from one computer to another computer within the networks of computer, you can use ping command of MS-DOS. And also you can use this command if you want to check the connectivity of a certain site.

Since you are using ping google.com -t, it's understood that the system generate the connections continuously without stopping. So if you want to stop it use the CTRL + C keys in your keyboard. Now, another use of MS-DOS is you can create a new folder or create directory using the command line. This folder or directory is useful for creating a new storage within your drive for your different files. And if you wanted to rename the current name of a folder you can do it also by following the instruction below.

  1. Open your MS-DOS, using run in winxp or using search button in win7
  2. Then type CMD, then press enter key.
